Kyle is in Wash. DC this week with his students, so I figured this would be a good time to buckle down and post some more pics! (Praise the Lord they are having amazing weather out there, since last year it was pouring down rain... yuck!)
Mom and dad hadn't been out here since last October, so we were happy to have them here for a few days in Sept (15-18th). Obviously we would be happy to have them even if they had just been here a month ago... haha. Kyle's parents also came down for the weekend! Kyle built this corn hole set this summer (and has gotten plenty of negative remarks about the Michigan colors!) so it's been fun to have something to play in our back yard.
Mom and I surely didn't have a stellar performance!
Seth loves to climb on these and pretend it's a slide...
and pick up the bags after we're done throwing them.
Having fun with Grammie =)
On Saturday it was so beautiful, so we went on a hike at the Narrows Reserve (probably less than 10 mins from here). Below is Devin with his friend Wes helping to carry the kiddos =)
Some old ladies stopped and offered to take our picture, so we all stood on this huge tree that was on top of some water.
The grandmothers with Seth... so cute. Thanks Lori for these pics since I didn't bring my camera! We hiked to a river and skipped stones (or attempted to) for a while. Seth and Elli had fun collecting acorns along the way =)
We had Seth's b-day party later that evening (b/c we knew mom and dad would be here that weekend and it might be a long time from now that they are at another one of his parties =)) This is my attempt at designing a tractor =) At least you can tell what it is, but I realized that it's good I never applied for a cake decorating job! It is very time consuming; I now have more appreciation for the ppl that do wedding cakes, etc... =) Seth didn't even care that there was a tractor on his cake; he just wanted to eat it immediately!
This was the closest to a "tractor balloon" that mom could find... I thought they were pretty cute balloons for being from the Dollar Tree!
Eating his birthday supper...
We had a cookout with Grammie and Grampa, Nana and Grandpa, Devin, and Wes (Devin's friend). Brent, Lori, Elli, Jenna, Justin and Aria came later b/c they had some other things going on that night.
Our kitchen table being put to good use! It's so nice to be able to fit ppl w/out always having to set up a card table =)
Playing outside after supper... it was a chilly evening!
I think these next 2 pics are so good of the grandparents!
Elli had just come from a birthday "tea party," hence the fancy dress... although knowing Elli, she might have worn it anyway! ;) I love this pic of them. Seth looks so "macho" with that big football and serious face!
and not so macho... ;)
family pics in the playhouse!
opening up some presents... Elli loves to help him open his gifts ;)
Nana bought him a "Mater" truck and she didn't even know he liked Mater. Good pick!
trying to blow out the candles... maybe next year he'll get the concept a little bit better!
not as messy as last year!
Nana, Jenna, and precious Aria
Thanks everyone for celebrating with us. It was a great weekend and we are so blessed to have had Seth in our lives for the past 2 years. We love him so much and are so thankful for his unique personality! We pray that the Lord will work in his heart that he will come to know Him at an early age.
and before I finish up this forever long post... this is a video of daddy and Seth having fun together... (imagine that!) Password is "stairs."

ReplyDeleteGreat pictures Meg and the cake looks awesome! Good job! You could definitely be a cake decorator, especially with that nice handwriting :) Looks like you had lots of fun when your parents came to visit!
ReplyDeleteMeg, sorry I'm so bad at looking at a post, then thinking I'll comment on it another time, and then forgetting to completely. So now that you messaged me on FB about wondering if it works to comment, etc...figured I would finally get with the ball game;-)
ReplyDeleteI loved the post, the cake looks super cute, too bad he didn't seem to care less about the tractor details after all that hard work you put into it. I also love the pics of the grandparents that you captured! I love the pic of Seth going down the slide on his belly head first haha, so funny:-) I also love the pic of mom playing with Seth on the playset. hmmm... ohhh and that video-what a crack up!! Kell says you better not have too many ppl watching that video or they will think that you guys are too dangerous with your child LOL;-) Iris was laughing at it, and it's funny cuz Iris always says "I'm stuck" too. I love what all the kiddos say now, besides the "no mom" "no dad" business lol. Thanks for the post...seems you and Heather like to post about every once a month;-)
testing out internet explorer...
